DIY Natural Face Mask and Body Scrub

Coffee Face and Body Scrub

I’ll start off by saying that I have not used this scrub personally, but that my husband loves it. He whips up a batch and keeps in it the shower to use it on his body as well as his face, and it doesn’t irritate him it all. In fact, it makes his skin wonderfully smooth. :)

Ingredients:

3 Tbsp. of moist coffee grounds

1 Tbsp. Olive oil (a great moisterizing property)

1/3 tsp. honey (antibacterial… great for acne)

Directions:
1. In a bowl, combine coffee grounds (make sure they are still moist!) with olive oil and honey.

2. Mix everything together well and let it sit for 5-10 minutes. If you wish, you can place it in the fridge so it will be cold, but it is not necessary.

To Use:

Rub gently, in small circular motions on face and body. Allow it to sit and soak in for a couple of minutes, then rinse and pat dry.

Oatmeal Mask (for dry, acne prone skin)

This face mask works well for me because I have dry, sensitive skin. It is moisterizing, and leaves my skin feeling wonderfully soft.

Oatmeal is also a great every day cleanser. Just grab a handful of oats, add a little water, and gently work it into your skin in small circular motions. Let it sit for a couple of minutes, rinse off, pat dry, and follow with your regular moisterizor. Just see how soft your skin will be… you’ll be surprised!

Ingredients:

2 Tbsp. oatmeal

2-3 Tbsp. chilled yogurt (plain)

1 tsp. honey

1 tsp. water

Directions:

1. Put oatmeal in a bowl, add yogurt (starting with 1 Tbsp. and adding more in as needed) and mix well.

2. Add honey and mix. Then, add 1 tsp. of water and mix again.

To Use:

Apply a thick layer to skin, leave for 15-20 mins, and gently rub in circular motions to lightly exfoliate as your rinse it off. Pat dry and follow with your regular moisterizor.

Lastly… I wanted to say something about the DIY Deodorant I made a couple of weeks ago. My hubby and I both love it! It works well, and we both enjoy the scent of tea tree oil and peppermint.Neither of us struggle with excessive sweat, but we’re both active (well, he is.. and I’m working on becoming more!), it is very moisterizing to the skin and is not irritating. I would definitely recommend it, and when we run out, we’ll be making more. The only change I would make would be to add a couple more drops of essential oil.

DIY Natural Deodorant Experiment

Ever since I saw a post on one of my favorite blogs (Passionate Homemaking) about all-natural homemade deodorant, I’ve been intrigued. I finally ran out of deodorant, as did my Hubby, so I knew today would be the perfect day to test it out!

Ingredients: Coconut Oil, baking soda, and cornstarch

The essential oils are optional, and I added Tea Tree Oil as well as Peppermint.

Just mix everything together!

I just stored mine in a small container, but my Hubby put his inside an old deodorant stick container.

applying it with your fingers is good, apparently, because this is also good for your skin... obviously, since you're putting it on your skin under your arms.... hmmm...
